The Friday Club was started in
June 1984 and its aim is to get people aged 60 and over together to enjoy
a chat and a cuppa.
The club won the Somerset
Community Village Ventures competition in 1986 as the best social project
in the county.
The club meets weekly during
term times, on Friday mornings from 10.30am to 11.45am at the village
hall. Tea and cakes are served for a nominal cost and members are happy to
chat amongst themselves.
The club is run by willing
volunteers who can also provide transport for those who cannot easily get
to the village hall.
There are two outings a year; a
lunch in summer at a local beauty spot and a Christmas dinner, both are
very popular.
There is always room for more
members and a warm welcome is guaranteed.
