What is It?
A scheme to provide sporting and leisure facilities for
the village of Chilcompton. The Parish Council have
purchased the site (some 11 acres on the outskirts of the village)
and handed management control to the Project Committee.
The committee have prepared plans, with our architect, for
a pavilion with changing rooms, kitchen and tea-room.
We have raised some £30,000 to date (but we still need
more!), and are now applying for grants from several bodies.
How much will it cost?
We have had the building costed by a qualified surveyor
at £175,000 (plus VAT). If we are successful in building
the pavilion next year (our aim!), we can then go on to
obtain grants to build the multi-sports court. This will allow
netball, tennis, basketball, five-a-side football to be played on
the site. BUT the changing rooms are key to the whole project.

Fund Raising
We are about to start the 2003/2004 hundred club. You can help the project by joining. It
costs £12 for the year and your number will go into each monthly draw. Another way of contributing
is to make a donation. This method allows the committee to get some extra money from
the Taxman. For example, a donation of £10 means the committee can collect an additional
£2-80 from the Taxman. Contact the Treasurer if you would like to support us (Brian Kissane
01761 232761)
If you have any ideas to help us please contact the acting Chairman Grahame Pickford
on 01761 232774. Our AGM this year is on Wednesday 26th November at Chilcompton
Village Hall, starting at 8pm.
