Due to the huge success of the villages new Recreation Ground at Bennall, the old Recreation Ground is under used and lacks a clear purpose. The Parish Council wants to devise a plan to re-establish the Old Grounds for recreational purposes and has set up a sub committee to do this.
The key objectives of the project are;
- To co-ordinate the production of an action plan, which is agreed by the community, for the re-development of the Old Recreation Ground as a recreation area for the community.
- To implement the agreed action plan.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop this large area and think about how it can best be used for the benefit of the whole village.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The following (not in any order) are the key criteria the Parish Council has agreed should be used to assess any proposed development for the Old Rec'.
Multi-functional, allowing for a variety of activities.
Flexible, allowing a space to have more than one use.
Age Range, offering something (not necessarily the same thing) for all ages.
Low Maintenance
Low Energy
Environmentally friendly in its creation and operation.
Integrated overall design
Would create minimum problems if interest in any particular activity declined

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
We are currently seeking your ideas and views about what we should do and what’s important to you. All ideas are very welcome.
Once we have your email address we will be able to keep you up to date with developments, so you can give us feedback as we progress. For instance, when we some draft plans we will send them out so you can tell us what you think.
Already this community project has created interest amongst all age groups in the village and we think this is important. We want Chilcompton to continue to be a place we can all be proud of, with outdoor spaces we can all enjoy.
The committee is also seeking volunteers to help. We will be grateful for help both during the current planning and consultation stages and when it comes to making any changes that are agreed. If you would like to get involved please let us know.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Once we have collected everyone's ideas we will pull them all together into one or more design proposals which we will ask you to comment on. We anticipate that this will be in the autumn.
