Sam was elected to represent Chilcompton at a by-election held in May 2026. He lives with his young family in Stratton-on-the-Fosse and previously served as Chilcompton’s District Councillor between 2019 and 2023. His key interests are ensuring that villages can be a sustainable and affordable home for future generations, while protecting green spaces and improving roads and local services.
Hello, I am Carmel Moore, newest member of the Parish Council. I have called our village home for the past 30 years. I have a rich background in community service and interest in local development. I played a pivotal role in establishing a successful startup in the village that created jobs for 100 local residents, boosting the local economy and fostering a sense of community pride.
After retraining as a midwife, I have spent 13 years serving families in Somerset. I have volunteered for roles within the local PTA and local sports committee, promoting engagement and healthy living amongst residents.
Amongst other hobbies, I enjoy cycling, walking and running with our two Hungarian Vizslas, embracing the natural beauty of our surroundings. I share my life with Mark, having a step daughter away at university and three grown up children.

Jon has lived in Chilcompton all of his life. He currently works for the Somerset Football Association based in Glastonbury. Jon was first elected to Council in 2003 and has served continuously since then. During his time on Council he has been involved in a number of projects undertaken by the PC and is most proud of his work as member of the Village Plan sub-committee. He has been chair since 2015
I have lived in Chilcompton since 1996, and have been a Parish Councillor since 2003, having been recently elected for a 4th term in May 2015. I am also a Governor of St. Vigor and St. John’s Primary School. And also the Treasurer of St. John’s Church. I am also a member of the County Committee of the Somerset Association of Local Councils. Previously I was on the board of the Community Council of Somerset. I currently run my own Import and Export Business in traffic safety products. I was a member of the Village Plan committee, before it was dissolved.
My name is Alan Bowhay and I have lived in Chilcompton with my family now for over 30 Years and my children went to school here. I have my own business Glazerite Ltd which has been trading locally now for over 35 years.
I currently sit on the management committee of the very successful Chilcompton sports club which is a great village facility.
I am a Rotarian of 25 years in the Somer Valley Rotary Club and have been President twice and was one of the inaugural members. It was the Rotary Club that paid for the first defibrillator installed at the village hall and now also now at the sports Club.
I also ran the local Wessex Beer Festival which ran for 13 years raising money for many charities and good causes locally and internationally.
Over that time I have lived in Chilcompton there have been many changes and I joined the council to be involved more within the village itself and help when and where I can.
Having been brought up in rural South West Scotland, Chilcompton feels like a home from home; albeit with a lot less rain and a lot more sun!
I moved to Chilcompton in 2016 with my wife and young daughter. We all made very welcome to village and I was keen to take an active part in village life.
When not busy bringing order to the garden or struggling with the not so flat parts of Somerset on my bike I can be mostly found with my daughter in the Old Rec or with a beer by the river as it runs past the house.
I look forward to continuing on the Parish Council; doing what I can to keep this a great place to live for everyone.
I am Sue Manley an Architect by training, although the last 25 years have been running my own business working in public realm and environmental graphic design. I am now semi-retired and moved to Chilcompton with my husband in November 2021 to build our new Eco house.
Having lived most of my adult life in cities, in London and Manchester I have always taken an interest in my community, I am now enjoying village life and looking forward to help keeping this lovely village a wonderful place to live.
Hi, I’m Paul Mattick, married to Karen, and our family have lived and farmed at Manor Farm since 1906. I follow on as the 3rd generation of to sit on the PC.
I like to think that having lived and worked here all my life, I have the village interest at heart.
Accepting that the village has changed with many new houses over the last 50 years we need to keep our identity as a village and protect our green spaces which make Chilcompton a great place to live.
I am a reasonably new co-opted Parish Councillor. My husband and I moved to the village of Chilcompton four years ago. We had however lived in the area for over forty years. When I retired from being a Headteacher I wanted to use my time to get more involved in the village community and find ways to support & help improve our village community.
