Coronation of King Charles III – save the dates!

Chilcompton Parish Council is working hard to set up some memorable events to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III. Many details are still to be sorted out however the general plans are as noted below. Please keep watching for posters, our website and Facebook for more details as they become available. Please also see our separate appeal for volunteers to help make this a wonderful weekend that will make the residents of Chilcompton proud!

• We expect that there will two Parish Council organised events in Chilcompton to celebrate the Coronation. On Saturday 6/5 we will hold a family picnic on the Old Rec and on Monday 8/5 we will hold a Coronation Cream Tea event at the Village Hall.
• Saturday, 6 May – Coronation Teddy Bear’s Picnic – Old Rec starting at 1pm – this will be a bring your own lunch and join in the following festivities – a bouncy castle, skittles, face painting, games and competitions. Hopefully there will also be stalls from local groups as well as a craft stall where families can create their own crown or other masterpieces. We hope to hire some toilet facilities and an Ice Cream van too.
• Monday, 8 May – Coronation Cream Tea at the Village Hall starting at 2pm – A cream tea and cake plus music, hopefully a sing song, some activities for pre school children, craft workshop for older ones and if it is available a climbing wall or caving attraction.
