The Final Edition?
Many people in Chilcompton enjoy our periodic parish magazine Chilcompton Matters. It requires many hours of sterling work by Malcolm Rigby and Mike Hughes to produce. We owe both of them an enormous debt of gratitude for all their hard work on this over the years. This also applies to the large group of regular and intermittent contributors who provide articles, poetry, photographs and advertising revenue. Then there are of course the distributors who make sure all the houses in the village receive a copy – thank you one and all.
Malcolm and Mike have given so much to this project, however it is now time for both of them to take a well earned break from it and turn production of the magazine over to others. So, the next edition of the magazine will be the last one unless other people come forward to take up the task.
Production of the magazine involves several tasks and skills such as coordination of advertisers, sourcing, preparing and editing content and also the IT side of arranging content and preparing the draft for printing and also coordinating distributers. Assistance would of course be given during a migration period to help people taking on production to get up to speed. It is not a requirement to be a Parish Councillor to take on this role and there would be no need to attend Parish Council meetings.
Anyone accepting this role would be free to bring forward new ideas as to format or content of the magazine, however final ownership will remain with the Parish Council and thus they have final say over what is included.
If you feel you could lead, or be part of a small team to take over production of Chilcompton Matters please get in touch with the Parish Clerk here
