Village Litter Pick 18/19 October

The autumn Village Litter Pick will take place over the weekend of the 18th/ 19th October. Please volunteer to pick areas around our great village to ensure it stays as clean as possible.

Contact Matt Escott 07885 472332 if you can help and he will coordinate who is doing which areas.

As per usual, Matt will leave litter pickers and black bin bags at the village hall on Sunday morning from 9am, please help yourself but please return the pickers when your picking is complete.

Please take all bags of rubbish and place by the rear tree in the Village Hall carpark

Matt will arrange with the council’s refuse contractor to collect the litter from the tree on the Monday morning.

Chilcompton Old Rec Improvements – opening reminder

Just a small reminder that the “opening ceremony” will take place on Saturday, 30 August at 10:00 AM, rain or shine. It’s great to see all the improvements being used by so many people already.

Phase 1 Completed – New Play Equipment Ready for Use.

We’re pleased to announce that Phase 1 of the improvements — including the installation of new equipment, some of which has been specially designed to be inclusive — is now complete. This project was delivered by Chilcompton Parish Council and was partially funded by the village precept. Additional funding was provided by Somerset Council through S106 contributions.

The equipment has been fully inspected, approved, and is now ready for everyone to enjoy.

Further enhancements are being considered for the future, but for now, we hope the community will make the most of these exciting new additions.

To mark the occasion, a small opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, 30 August at 10:00 AM. We’d love to see a strong turnout — especially from the younger residents of our village. But do feel free to use the equipment before then.

 

 

 

 

 

Village Survey Final Report

Please find attached the result of the village survey that was held earlier. The boards displaying the report are also available to view in the village hall, and will be up till end of September.

The Parish Council are looking at some possible actions in line with these results that we can take to help improve the health and wellbeing of our village residents.

Our constituency Member of Parliament Anna Sabine will be visiting Chilcompton on Friday, 8 August for various meetings. An open invitation to meet her during the Friday Club from 10:30 at the village hall is extended to all village residents.

Old Rec Play Equipment

Work has started today to install several pieces of new play equipment in The Old Rec. The work is expected to last for about three weeks. Please take extra care when using or crossing the Old Rec during this time.

VJ Day Commemoration – 15 August 2025 **12:00**

A short ceremony will be held at the Chilcompton War Memorial to commemorate VJ Day. This is planned for Friday, 15 August at 12:00 and all are welcome to attend.
